Paving the way for Portland, Maine,
neighbors to age in place
Independent Seniors Network is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization supporting aging in place.
Our funding is provided by membership dues, as well as donations, grants, and fundraising.
Our Mission Statement
The mission of Independent Seniors Network is to support and empower seniors in the greater Portland area who wish to remain living in their own homes as long as possible. Volunteers provide services, social connections, and activities for members, helping both members and volunteers to maintain active, social, safe, and independent lives. Diversity and inclusion are woven into the fabric of our core values and help the Independent Seniors Network deliver our mission throughout the community.
“I’m an 82-year-old widow, determined to continue aging in place,
though living alone. Just as I was beginning to feel anxiety-what to
do about outdoor winter work, I learned about Portland Area Villages.
The needs their services cover are broad. Simply knowing that
this wonderful volunteer community is out there, ready to help:
that’s a relief. Enough to make me feel at ease. Reassured.”
~Elaine, age 82
